Uganda equipment appeal
Wheelchair rugby in Uganda is still at its developmental stage, they currently have three teams spread across this beautiful country and are wanting to create a fourth team. They currently have approximately 30 physically disabled people playing the sport, including 9 women, which is fantastic for the growth of the women's game.
They have previously received some donations of equipment, but as anyone that plays the sport in a first world country knows how quickly equipment can get worn out - imagine playing outside on concrete, how much quicker wear and tear will set in. We are sending a small delegation of coaches/mechanics and referees over to Uganda at their invitation to help them bolster their learning of the sport, but we do not want to go empty handed. The more equipment we can take the better and this is not just a one off - Wales 5s WRU and Uganda WRF will be creating an agreement, where we commit ourselves to the development of Ugandan wheelchair rugby, both in Uganda and by hopefully bringing them over to Wales to experience our culture and styles of play.
If you play wheelchair rugby, please think about what the sport means to you and what it has given to you, in many cases
